[Artist Statement]

My wife and I visited Tokyo for the first time in 2012. Back then, 90% of the Japanese restaurants in Paris were only serving sushi and yakitori. Ramen was not popular, and the few bowls I had tasted were not so good…

But during our stay in Tokyo we had our very first tonkotsu ramen at a Keika Ramen restaurant in Shinjuku. That bowl BLEW MY MIND and made me realize that REAL ramen is delicious!

So I tasted many sorts or ramen while in Japan and it became my favorite meal. It’s cheap, comforting, and you can do so many different recipes. That’s just perfect!

In 2016, to show my love of ramen, I designed a few products with the catch words "Ramen Lovers Club". We made t-shirts, patches, and stickers. Everything was selling so fast, I couldn’t believe it!

Ramen was slowly gaining popularity in France. There were more and more good restaurants opening, I was so happy!

I even released a collection of t-shirts and posters called "Ramen is Love" in 2021 and it has been our best selling collection to date. I’m glad that so many people love ramen now!

When I became a vegetarian in 2024 I was afraid I couldn’t eat ramen anymore. But there are many ways to cook veggie or vegan ramen so I’m fine! I even make my own noodles and broth at home with my 6 years old son, that’s a great activity to do with family.

And now I can wear this maekake while cooking ramen!
